From above, Tolyatti does not look like a single town. It sits on the left bank of the Kuybyshev Reservoir, where the Volga widens behind the Zhiguli dam, and belts of pine forest split it into three districts. On a map, three distinct street patterns float in green space, tied together by a few long highways.
The old town of Stavropol-on-Volga was flooded when the reservoir was created in the 1950s, and the city was rebuilt on higher ground. In 1964 it was renamed after the Italian communist leader Palmiro Togliatti. Soon afterwards the AvtoVAZ plant was built here to make the car that became the Lada, and Tolyatti has been Russia's car-making capital ever since.
The Avtozavodsky district, built for the plant's workers, is the most graphic part of any Tolyatti map poster. It is an orderly grid of large numbered residential blocks, each a neat rectangle between wide avenues. Across the forest, the Central and Komsomolsky districts are older and more irregular, and beyond the reservoir the Zhiguli hills rise on the opposite bank.

Here the Volga spreads into a wide reservoir. It gives the city a long, open shoreline and puts a large calm expanse of water along one side of the poster.
Pine forest separates the city's three districts, so the map shows clusters of streets divided by empty space. That is an unusual composition for a city of this size.

Aiheā Tolyatti
People in Tolyatti often describe where they live by district and block number, and a map lets you point to exactly where you grew up. The planned grid, the forest gaps and the reservoir make a composition that feels both personal and architectural.
Set the title and subtitle to a district, a block or a year, and keep or edit the coordinates line. There are five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, available as digital HD files or as a printed poster on matte paper.
