Villiers lies in the north-eastern Free State on the southern bank of the Vaal River, which here forms the provincial boundary. From above, the river is the defining line: a wide, looping channel with the older town laid out in a rectangular grid just to its south, and the open highveld of maize fields and grazing land stretching away beyond it in every direction.
The N3 between Johannesburg and Durban passes close to town, and many travellers know Villiers as the place where the road crosses the Vaal. The township of Qalabotjha forms a separate grid a short distance from the original centre, a pattern common to many South African towns, and together the two areas give the map its two distinct blocks of streets.
A Villiers map poster suits people with roots in this part of the Free State, anglers and boaters who know the river, and anyone who has watched the Vaal slide past on the long drive to the coast. The composition is simple and strong: water, grid, highway and wide surrounding space.
The Vaal curves broadly along the northern edge of town, its width and gentle meanders giving the poster a strong natural border against the regular streets.
The historic centre follows a rectangular grid of blocks and wide streets, typical of Free State towns and clearly legible even at the smaller print sizes.
The national road crosses the Vaal near Villiers, a long confident line linking the town toward Gauteng in the north and KwaZulu-Natal to the south-east.

Aiheā Villiers
Villiers is a place of family farms and long histories along the river, and a map gives that a quiet visual form. Set the title and subtitle with a family name, a farm or a year, and adjust the coordinates line to mark the place precisely.
Sand captures highveld tones, while Classic black & white, Noir, Paper and Blueprint suit different rooms. A $9 digital download provides six sizes at 300 DPI, and printed matte posters with optional wooden frames are produced by partners in more than 30 countries.
