The Limfjord crossings

Aalborg lies where the Limfjord narrows, the waterway that cuts across the top of Jutland. The city occupies the southern bank, with Nørresundby opposite, and the fjord runs through the map as a wide band of open space. The Limfjord Bridge, a railway bridge and a motorway tunnel stitch the two shores together at distinct points along the water.
Behind the waterfront, the medieval core is compact and irregular, gathered around Budolfi Cathedral and the narrow streets near Jomfru Ane Gade. The former harbour edge has been rebuilt with cultural buildings, including the Utzon Center, named for the architect of the Sydney Opera House, who spent his childhood in the city. Further south, the pattern loosens into residential districts and green spaces.
To the east, Aalborg University and newer neighbourhoods stretch toward open land, while the north shore rises to Lindholm Høje, one of Denmark's largest Viking-age burial sites. An Aalborg map poster captures this balance of fjord, old town and outward growth, and shows why the water remains the city's defining line even as its districts spread in every direction.
The fjord splits the map in two, and the handful of fixed links across it, a road bridge, a rail bridge and a motorway tunnel, become the points where the street network gathers.
Around Budolfi Cathedral the streets bend and narrow, forming a dense cluster that contrasts clearly with the straighter, more open districts that grew up around it.
On the hill above Nørresundby, the Viking-age burial ground appears as an open patch among the streets, a reminder of settlement on this fjord more than a thousand years ago.

Ko e hā ʻa Aalborg
Aalborg is a student city and a harbour city at once, and many people pass through for a degree or a job before moving on. A map of the fjord and its crossings is a clear, lasting reminder of the years spent there.
You can set the title, add a subtitle with a date or neighbourhood, and adjust the coordinates line. The five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, each treat the fjord differently, from stark contrast to warm, muted tones.
