Accra runs along the Atlantic coast of Ghana, facing the Gulf of Guinea, and the shoreline sets the base line for everything on the map. The oldest districts, Jamestown and Ussher Town, sit right on the water with a dense pattern of narrow streets. From there the city spreads north and east in wider blocks, following roads that fan out into the suburbs.
The Ring Road loops around central Accra, and Korle Lagoon opens to the sea on the west side of the old town, fed by the Odaw River. Independence Square, with its Black Star Gate, sits near the shore, and not far away is the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, honouring the leader who took Ghana to independence in 1957.
An Accra map poster frames the city from its coastline outward. The lighthouse quarter of Jamestown, the open shape of the lagoon and the long avenues running inland give the composition a strong base and a clear sense of growth. In black and white the pattern of old and new districts is easy to trace from the water upward.
The old fishing quarter by the lighthouse has the tightest street pattern in the city, a knot of lanes right on the shore that anchors the bottom of the poster.
The loop of roads around central Accra draws a large, irregular circle on the map, separating the older core from the districts that grew up outside it.
Where the Odaw River meets the sea, the lagoon forms a broad open shape at the western edge of the old town, a natural break in the street pattern.

For Ghanaians abroad, and for visitors who spent a season in the city, an Accra map carries real personal meaning. It marks where someone grew up, studied at Legon or started a business, in a form that looks calm on any wall.
Personalise the title and subtitle with a family name, a neighbourhood or a date, and edit the coordinates line if you like. Then select Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, as HD files or a matte print.
