Angoche lies on the coast of Nampula province in northern Mozambique, where rivers meet the Indian Ocean in a pattern of channels, mangroves and low islands. From above, the town sits on land between the estuary and the sea. Its streets form a modest network that gives way quickly to sand, water and coastal vegetation.
The town has a long history as a trading port on the Swahili coast. For centuries it was connected to the Indian Ocean trade routes that linked eastern Africa with Arabia and India, and it was once the seat of a coastal sultanate. Fishing remains central to life here today.
An Angoche map poster is mostly about edges: where land ends, where channels divide it and where small islands break up the water offshore. It suits someone who likes quiet, irregular coastlines more than dense city grids.
Waterways cut into the coast around the town, separating land into irregular pieces and giving the map layered, uneven shorelines.
Low islands lie off the coast, forming small scattered shapes in the open water.
The built-up area is small and sits close to the water. A short street network fades into the coastal landscape around it.

For people from Nampula province, or anyone who has spent time on Mozambique's northern coast, this map is a clear record of a place defined by sea and estuary. The irregular shoreline gives it a strong graphic quality.
