Arcoverde lies in the interior of Pernambuco, on the transition between the agreste and the sertão, the semi-arid backlands of northeastern Brazil. It is often called the gateway to the sertão, and from above the town reflects that role: it spreads along the BR-232, the main highway linking Recife with the interior.
The centre follows a fairly regular grid, with blocks around squares and churches, while newer neighbourhoods extend along the highway and outward onto the surrounding land. Beyond the town, the terrain is dry and sparsely settled, marked by low hills and scattered roads.
Arcoverde was renamed in honour of Cardinal Joaquim Arcoverde, a Pernambuco-born churchman who became the first cardinal of Latin America. The town is also known for its coco dance tradition. An Arcoverde map poster shows a place defined by a road and by the edge of the interior.
The main highway runs through the town and gives the map a strong linear axis, with streets branching from it.
The older core has an ordered layout of blocks and squares, compact and clearly readable in black and white.
Outside town the land is open and lightly settled, with the map becoming spare and quiet toward its edges.

Ko e hā ʻa Arcoverde
For people from Arcoverde, the town is where the sertão begins, and that identity runs deep. A map of it makes a fitting gift for anyone who grew up there or still returns for the festivals.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand suits the dry interior light, while Classic gives the grid a sharp, graphic look.
