Barwala lies in Botad district of Gujarat, on the eastern side of the Saurashtra peninsula, where the land is flat and open and the horizon stretches out in every direction. The town has a dense old centre of narrow streets and closely built houses. Newer neighbourhoods have grown around it along the main roads leading to nearby towns and villages.
Agriculture shapes the landscape here, with cotton and other crops grown across the surrounding plain.
