Baud, also written Boudh, is the headquarters of Boudh district in central Odisha. It sits on the bank of the Mahanadi, one of India's major rivers, and the river dominates any map of the town. Its wide channel, sandbanks and shifting streams take up a large part of the frame, while the town's streets line the bank beside it.
