Behat lies in the Saharanpur district of western Uttar Pradesh, on the level land between the Ganges and Yamuna basins. From above, the town forms a dense cluster of narrow lanes packed tightly around its main road, with houses giving way quickly to a surrounding grid of fields, orchards and small village roads.
