Beni Enzar lies on the north-eastern coast of Morocco, in Nador province, directly next to the Spanish city of Melilla. Its best-known feature is the border crossing between the two, one of the busiest points of contact between Morocco and Spain. From above, the town fills a narrow strip between the frontier, the sea and the hills.
The street pattern is dense and fairly irregular, with main roads running toward the crossing and along the coast toward Nador. To the south lies the Mar Chica, a large coastal lagoon separated from the Mediterranean by a long sand bar.
A Beni Enzar map poster shows a place defined by its edges: the coastline, the border and the slopes rising inland. That tight setting gives the composition a strong structure, with the shoreline making a clean line across the sheet and the town filling the space behind it.
The frontier with Melilla runs along one side of the town. The busy crossing point draws the main roads toward it.
The coast frames the town to the north and gives the poster a clear, continuous line between land and water.
South of town lies the Mar Chica lagoon, and its calm, open water shapes the wider coastal landscape around Nador.
