Bentong Town lies in western Pahang, on the eastern side of the Titiwangsa Mountains that divide the peninsula. The Karak Highway crosses the range to connect it with Kuala Lumpur, and on a map that road arrives from the west and passes the town. The centre is a compact grid of shophouse streets, with residential areas spreading along the valley floor.
Around the town, the land rises into forested hills and is patterned with smallholdings and plantations. Bentong is well known for its ginger, prized across Malaysia, and the district also grows durian. Karak Highway
The expressway from Kuala Lumpur crosses the Titiwangsa range and passes Bentong. Its broad, curving line gives the composition a strong diagonal and links the town to the wider region.
