Ko e mape
Bilbeis lies in Sharqia governorate, where the green, irrigated land of the Nile Delta meets the desert to the east. On a map the town is a compact, dense knot of streets. Around it lies an intricate web of canals, drainage channels and field boundaries that is typical of the delta, and the settlement stands out clearly against the farmland.
Its position on the eastern side of the delta has long made Bilbeis a stop on routes linking the Nile Valley with Sinai and the lands beyond. It is one of the older towns of the region. Today it serves as a local centre for the surrounding villages and farms, with roads and rail connecting it toward Cairo and the Suez Canal zone.
A Bilbeis map poster brings out the contrast between the tightly packed town and the fine geometry of the fields around it. It shows how water shapes everything in the delta. For people from Sharqia, it is a clear, quiet portrait of a familiar place.
The centre of Bilbeis is a dense cluster of narrow, irregular streets, far more closely packed than the farmland that surrounds it.
Irrigation canals and drains run through the countryside, forming long lines that divide the land into a precise patchwork of fields.
Main roads and a railway lead out of town across the delta, connecting Bilbeis with larger cities and giving the map clear directional lines.
