Camrose is a small city on the parkland southeast of Edmonton. It follows a clear prairie grid, but one natural feature disrupts that order. Mirror Lake sits close to downtown, and the Stoney Creek valley winds away from it through the city. Along the valley, streets bend or stop, and green space fills the gap.
Trails follow the creek and the lakeshore, forming a green ribbon through the residential areas. The University of Alberta's Augustana Campus lies near the valley. On the city's outskirts, the grid meets section roads and farmland, the pattern of fields that covers the region. Each summer the Big Valley Jamboree music festival draws large crowds to the grounds nearby.
