Cartierville is a neighbourhood in the north of Montreal, part of the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville. It sits on the southern bank of the Rivière des Prairies, the channel separating the island of Montreal from Laval, and on the map the river forms its long, gently curving northern edge.
Once a separate municipality, Cartierville became part of Montreal in the early twentieth century. Its streets combine older blocks near the river with postwar residential areas and apartment districts further south. Green spaces along the shore, including the wooded Bois-de-Saraguay, give the waterfront a natural character.
A Cartierville map poster shows the neighbourhood framed by water. The shoreline, the bridges to Laval, the grid of residential streets and the patches of woods and parks make a composition that feels both urban and close to nature.
The river runs along the northern edge of the neighbourhood, a wide band of water with islands and a wooded shore facing Laval.
Road bridges cross the river here, connecting Cartierville with the neighbouring island and forming strong lines across the water.
Green spaces such as the Bois-de-Saraguay line the shore, adding soft, irregular shapes to the north of the map.

Cartierville suits Montrealers who grew up near the river, families who settled in the area and anyone fond of the city's quieter northern shore. The waterfront gives the poster a strong, natural outline.
