Ko e mape
Chimoio is the capital of Manica Province in central Mozambique, set on higher ground between the coast at Beira and the Zimbabwean border. From above, its structure is simple: a central grid of streets inherited from the colonial town, with the main road and the railway running east to west through or beside it.
The town was called Vila Pery during the colonial period and took the name Chimoio after independence. Close by is Cabeça do Velho, a large granite outcrop whose profile is said to resemble an old man's head, one of the most recognisable landmarks in the area.
A Chimoio map poster reflects a town defined by its route. The corridor road and railway make a strong horizontal axis, the regular blocks of the centre sit along it, and newer neighbourhoods spread outward with less regular streets onto the surrounding farmland.
The main road and the railway linking the port of Beira to Zimbabwe pass through Chimoio. They form the longest and most important lines on the map.
The older town centre has straight streets arranged in regular blocks, clearly different from the looser patterns of the newer districts around it.
Rocky hills rise near the town, including Cabeça do Velho. On the map they show up as open spaces where the streets stop.

Chimoio is a crossroads for many journeys between the coast and the interior. A poster of the town suits anyone with family, work or memories there, and it has a clean, well-organised look on the wall.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. A name and a date turn it into a personal keepsake.
