Conyers is the seat of Rockdale County, about 25 miles east of Atlanta along Interstate 20. On a map, the historic Olde Town area forms a small, orderly grid beside the railroad, while the rest of the city spreads outward in curving subdivisions, commercial strips and large parcels along the interstate.
Two well-known sites stand out on the city's edges. The Georgia International Horse Park, built for the 1996 Summer Olympics, hosted equestrian and mountain biking events, and appears as a large open area with trails. To the south, the Monastery of the Holy Spirit, a Trappist community, occupies wide, wooded grounds.
