Ko e mape
Cuilapa is the capital of Santa Rosa department in southeastern Guatemala, on the Pan-American Highway between Guatemala City and the Salvadoran border. The town sits on uneven ground cut by streams and ravines. Its orderly central blocks have to fit around steep drops, so the edges of the grid break up quickly into curving roads.
Cuilapa is often called the centre of the Americas, a local claim marked by a monument in town. Nearby, the Río Los Esclavos is crossed by a colonial-era stone bridge, one of the best-known historic structures in the region. The surrounding hills are farmed, including coffee on the higher slopes.
A Cuilapa map poster shows a Spanish colonial layout adapting to rugged terrain. The plaza and the blocks around it form a neat core. The highway runs past as a strong, confident line, and beyond it roads twist along the ravines. The mix of order and irregularity makes for a well-balanced black-and-white image.
Straight streets around the central plaza form a clear rectangular core, the classic Spanish colonial plan, set on uneven ground.
CA-1 passes by the town as a bold line on the map, tying Cuilapa to the capital to the west and the border to the east.
Deep stream valleys cut around the town and push the street network into curves wherever the land drops away.

Ko e hā ʻa Cuilapa
For people from Santa Rosa, Cuilapa is where roads meet and family visits happen. A map of the town is a grounded, personal piece for a home abroad or a gift for someone who left and still thinks of it.
Change the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps to read Centro de las Américas or to mark an important year. Then choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
