Curug is a district in Tangerang Regency, Banten, on the western edge of the Jakarta metropolitan area. It sits on low, flat land where rice fields and villages have steadily given way to housing estates, industrial sites and new roads. On a map, the result is a patchwork. Curug has long been associated with aviation training. The Indonesian civil aviation training institute is based here, next to a small airfield whose runway appears as a clean straight line among the surrounding estates.
