Dabas lies on the flat land of Pest County, southeast of Budapest. Its map looks quite different from a typical compact town. The built-up area is spread out, with several clusters of streets linked by longer roads, and farmland and gardens between them. That shape reflects its origin: the modern town was formed in the 1960s by joining several neighbouring villages.
Each former village kept something of its own street pattern, so the map shows a set of distinct nuclei rather than a single centre. Long, straight roads cross the plain between them, typical of the Hungarian lowlands, where settlement historically followed farm roads and property lines. The effect is open and horizontal, with plenty of space in the composition.
A Dabas map poster rewards a closer look. From a distance it appears as a scattered set of lines across flat land. Up close, each cluster has its own rhythm of lanes and plots. In black and white, the pattern resembles a delicate drawing, suited to anyone who knows which part of Dabas they call home.
The town grew from the union of several villages, and the map still shows distinct clusters of streets rather than a single dense core.
Long, straight roads cross the flat countryside between the clusters, drawing clean lines typical of settlements on the Great Hungarian Plain.
Narrow residential plots and gardens stretch back from the streets, giving the built-up areas a fine, combed texture visible at close range.
