Delaware is the county seat of Delaware County in central Ohio, north of Columbus. Its map starts with a traditional Midwestern courthouse town: a compact downtown grid with Sandusky Street as its main north–south route. Beyond it, newer subdivisions spread out in curving streets and cul-de-sacs, showing the region's growth over time.
The Olentangy River runs along the town's eastern side in a gentle meander, with parks and floodplain following its banks. West of downtown, the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University adds a cluster of quads and paths to the grid. Rail lines and state routes approach from several directions and meet at the centre.
Delaware is the birthplace of Rutherford B. Hayes, the nineteenth president, and each September it hosts the Little Brown Jug, a well-known harness race held at the county fairgrounds. A Delaware map poster brings together the river, the campus and the old grid to show a small Ohio city in full.
