Ko e mape
Denov lies in Surxondaryo Region, in the far south of Uzbekistan, near the Tajik border. It sits in the upper valley of the Surxondaryo river, where the land starts to rise towards the Hisar mountains to the north. Irrigation turns this valley green, and the map shows a town set among geometric field patterns and canals.
The streets form a fairly regular network, with main roads meeting near the centre and quieter residential blocks around them. Traditional courtyard houses with gardens give many neighbourhoods a low, dense texture. At the edge of town, the grid gives way to long field strips and irrigation channels that follow the slope of the valley.
A Denov map poster shows a well-watered valley town with mountains nearby. It is a quiet design, suited to people from Surxondaryo and to anyone who has travelled through southern Uzbekistan and remembers its green valleys between dry hills.
Rectangular fields and canals surround the town and form a second, larger grid around the streets.
The town lies in the upper part of this river valley. The ground rises gently to the north towards the foothills of the Hisar range.
Residential blocks of walled houses with gardens create an even texture across much of the town, typical of Central Asian settlements.
