Devarkonda is a town in Nalgonda district, Telangana, set in a landscape of granite outcrops and dry farmland. Its best-known landmark is Devarakonda Fort, a medieval hill fortress spread across a group of rocky hills beside the town and associated with the Recherla Velama rulers. On a map, the hills break the street pattern and give the town an irregular, lopsided shape.
The town centre is a dense tangle of lanes, typical of an older South Indian market town, with main roads leading out toward Hyderabad and other district towns. Newer growth extends along these routes in narrow bands. Around them, the land opens into fields and water tanks, the small irrigation reservoirs common across the Deccan plateau.
