Ko e mape
Dharmavaram sits on the dry plateau of Anantapur district in southern Andhra Pradesh. From above it looks like a tight cluster of streets surrounded by open, lightly patterned farmland. Roads leave the centre in several directions toward neighbouring towns, and a railway junction adds long straight lines that cut cleanly across the rural pattern. The contrast between the dense core and the thin countryside gives the map a clear, readable shape.
The town is best known across India for its silk. Dharmavaram handloom saris, woven with broad borders and heavy zari, are sold far beyond Andhra Pradesh, and weaving households fill much of the older part of town. The area is also linked with tholu bommalata, the traditional leather shadow-puppet theatre of Andhra, which gives Dharmavaram a cultural reach larger than its size.
