Erlanger is a city in Northern Kentucky, part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area across the Ohio River. Transport defines its map. Interstate 71/75 runs through the city, a railway line follows an older route across town, and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport lies just to the west, its runways a vast geometric presence at the edge of the frame.
The city takes its name from Baron Frédéric Émile d'Erlanger, a European financier connected with the railway that shaped its early growth.
