Esbjerg is one of Denmark's youngest cities. It was founded in 1868 as a new west-coast port after the country lost the duchies to the south. Because it was built from scratch, the centre follows a clear grid of straight streets, which is unusual in Denmark. On a map this orderly pattern leads down to a large harbour cut into the shoreline.
Across the water lies the island of Fanø, reached by a short ferry, and beyond it the Wadden Sea, a tidal area listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The harbour, once home to a large fishing fleet, is now a major base for the offshore wind industry in the North Sea. Its long quays and basins give the coastline a geometric edge.
To the northwest, on the beach at Sædding, stands Man Meets the Sea, four white seated figures nine metres tall. An Esbjerg map poster brings together the planned grid, the harbour basins, the island opposite and the shallow waters around it, forming a composition that feels crisp and coastal.
The city centre is laid out in straight, regular streets that reflect its founding as a new port in the nineteenth century. The pattern is easy to recognise from above.
Long quays and rectangular basins line the coast. They once served fishing fleets and now support offshore wind projects in the North Sea.
The island opposite and the tidal waters around it add open space and soft coastlines, contrasting with the sharp geometry of the port.

Ko e hā ʻa Esbjerg
Esbjerg suits people who work in the harbour, grew up on the west coast, or take the ferry to Fanø every summer. Add a custom title and subtitle, such as a year or Vestjylland, and keep the coordinates line for a clean finish.
Blueprint fits the harbour city, while Classic black & white shows the grid most clearly. For $9 you receive six print sizes as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF files. A matte printed poster, with an optional wooden frame, can be shipped as well.
