Evaz lies in the Larestan area of southern Fars province, in the dry country between the Zagros ranges and the Persian Gulf. On a map it appears as a dense, compact settlement with narrow, irregular lanes at its core and straighter modern roads added around the edges, all surrounded by open, largely empty land.
The region is hot and arid, and towns here historically relied on careful water management, including covered cisterns built to store scarce rainfall. Evaz also has long ties across the Gulf, with many families having worked or settled in the Arab states on the far shore.
