Gemerek is a district town in the western part of Sivas Province, near the border with Kayseri, on the high Central Anatolian plateau. The landscape here is wide and open: rolling farmland, low hills and long horizons. The town is the centre of a rural district, and its roads connect it with Sivas to the east and Kayseri to the southwest.
