Mississippi bluffs
Limestone bluffs mark the river edge to the south and west. On the poster the water and the steep line of the bluffs frame the village's softer interior.

Godfrey sits just north of Alton in Madison County, Illinois, near the point where the Illinois River joins the Mississippi. From above it is not a compact town but a broad, green village: curving residential roads, wooded ravines cut into the bluffs, and larger parcels of open land between neighbourhoods.
The village takes its name from Benjamin Godfrey, a sea captain who founded the Monticello Female Seminary here in the nineteenth century. That campus is now home to Lewis and Clark Community College. Along the river, the Great River Road follows the base of the limestone bluffs.
A Godfrey map poster captures this looser, more rural suburban pattern. Streets follow the ridges and valleys instead of a grid, and the river provides a strong edge along one side. It is an elegant choice for residents, college alumni and anyone who knows the drive along the bluffs.
Limestone bluffs mark the river edge to the south and west. On the poster the water and the steep line of the bluffs frame the village's softer interior.
The former seminary grounds, now Lewis and Clark Community College, form a distinct cluster of buildings, paths and lawns within the village.
Residential roads bend around ravines and wooded slopes, producing loops and cul-de-sacs that give the map an organic, hand-drawn quality.

Godfrey is a place people settle into, and a map of it often marks a family home, a college chapter or years spent near the river. The winding road pattern also works as a quiet, decorative print.
You can add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps a street name or a graduation year. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to match the room.
