Gomīshān lies in the far north of Golestan province, on the coastal plain near the southeastern corner of the Caspian Sea. The land here is almost perfectly flat, and the town's streets spread across it in a fairly regular pattern. Main roads cut straight through, residential blocks line both sides, and beyond the edges the map opens into farmland and marsh.
Between the town and the sea lies the Gomishan wetland, a shallow lagoon and marsh system listed as a wetland of international importance. It is a stopping point for migratory birds. On a map it adds soft, irregular water shapes on the western side of the town, in contrast with the ruled lines of fields and roads.
The town belongs to the Turkmen Sahra, the plain of northeastern Iran where much of the country's Turkmen population lives, and it is not far from the border with Turkmenistan. A Gomīshān map poster captures the geometry of this landscape: a compact town on level ground, where water, fields and long straight roads meet at its edges.
A shallow coastal lagoon and marshland lies toward the Caspian. Its shifting, irregular outlines are the most organic shapes on the poster and frame the western side of the town.
With almost no relief to work around, streets and roads run long and straight, giving the town a clear, orderly pattern of blocks.
Depending on the framing, the Caspian Sea can appear as a broad open area. It shows the town's position beside the largest enclosed body of water on Earth.

For people from the Turkmen Sahra, this map shows the town and the water together in one view, the way they are remembered. It also suits birdwatchers and travellers who have visited the Caspian wetlands and want a clean record of the place.
Add a title, a subtitle such as a family name or a date, and adjust the coordinates line. Blueprint suits the watery west and Sand the dry plains, and Classic black & white, Noir and Paper complete the five styles. The HD files cost $9, and printed posters are also available.
