Gumia, also spelled Gomia, lies in Bokaro district in the Indian state of Jharkhand, in the valley of the Damodar River on the Chota Nagpur Plateau. The land rolls gently between low hills. From above, the town appears as a cluster of streets and housing colonies spread along the roads, with open ground, fields and water between them.
The area has long been tied to industry. It lies within the coal-bearing belt of the Damodar valley, and Gomia has been home to a large explosives plant serving the mining sector. The Tenughat reservoir on the Damodar lies nearby, and a railway through the town connects it with the wider coal region of Jharkhand.
A Gumia map poster shows a landscape of work and water: planned colonies with regular streets, older settlements with irregular lanes, and the lines of rail and river cutting across them. The low hills leave breathing space around the built areas, giving the design an open, balanced composition.
The Damodar and its tributaries shape the country around Gumia, their channels winding through farmland and scrub. In black and white they appear as flowing lines across the map.
Housing colonies built for industrial workers have regular, planned street layouts. They stand out clearly against the more irregular pattern of the older villages nearby.
A railway passes through the town as part of the network serving the Jharkhand coalfields. It draws a long, steady line through the composition.

Ko e hā ʻa Gumia
Families who lived in Gumia's colonies often moved on to other cities, yet the town stays a strong memory. A map of its streets, rail line and river is a meaningful gift for parents or grandparents who worked or grew up there.
Add a title such as the town's name or a family surname, include a subtitle with a year, and edit the coordinates line. Choose one of five styles, then download the HD files for $9 or order a printed poster from a partner close to you.
