Gwaram is a town and local government area in the south of Jigawa State in northern Nigeria. It sits in open savanna country where the land is broad and fairly level, and the town reads on a map as a compact concentration of streets surrounded by farmland and seasonal watercourses.
The older part of town has the texture common to many northern Nigerian settlements: tightly packed compounds divided by narrow, irregular lanes, with wider roads cutting through to carry traffic in and out. Newer building spreads more loosely along those roads, so the edges of the town trail outward.
A Gwaram map poster shows that layering clearly in black and white. The dense centre becomes a dark, finely textured mass, and the roads leading away give it shape and direction. Around it, the savanna leaves the paper largely open.
The core is a fine mesh of narrow, irregular lanes between family compounds, the most detailed part of the map.
Wider roads lead out from the centre toward neighbouring towns, giving the settlement a clear skeleton.
Around the built-up area the map opens into flat farmland, crossed by tracks and seasonal streams.

Gwaram is home for thousands and a starting point for many who have moved away. A map of its streets is a personal object that says where you come from without saying too much.
You can add a title, a subtitle and a date and keep the coordinates line. Choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
