Hida City covers a large mountainous area in northern Gifu Prefecture. It was formed in 2004 when Furukawa, Kamioka and several neighbouring towns and villages merged. The map shows valleys and basins with small urban centres in the lowest, flattest ground. Between them lie long stretches of forested mountains, crossed by winding roads and rail lines along the rivers.
Furukawa is the city's centre. The Kamioka district, deep in the mountains, is known worldwide for Super-Kamiokande, a large neutrino detector built underground in a former mine. It is an unexpected science site in a rural setting.
A Hida map poster centres on the Furukawa basin but gives a sense of the wider landscape. A tight town grid sits on the valley floor, rivers cut through the frame, and roads snake out toward the other districts through the mountains.
The city's main town sits on a flat valley floor, where the densest streets and the railway gather.
Rivers run between the ranges and form the natural corridors that roads and rail lines follow through the city.
In the mountains of the Kamioka area, a former mine hosts the Super-Kamiokande neutrino observatory underground.

Hida can mean a family home in the mountains, a stay in a traditional inn or a visit to Kamioka. A map lets you keep the whole region in view without losing the detail of the town.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a family name or trip date. Choose among Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. HD files include six sizes, from 30×40 cm to 24×36″.
