Arterial framework
Broad roads such as Michigan Avenue cross the city and define the edges of its neighbourhoods, forming a bold frame around the finer residential grid.

Inkster Map Poster & Print
Inkster is a small city in Wayne County, Michigan, west of Detroit and next to Dearborn Heights, Westland and Romulus. From above, it is classic Detroit-region geography: a regular grid of residential streets framed by wide, straight arterial roads that follow the survey lines of the area.
The city grew in the twentieth century alongside the automobile industry, housing many workers employed at nearby plants. That history shows in the modest, evenly sized lots and the steady repetition of blocks that fill most of the map, broken only by schools, parks and commercial strips along the main roads.
An Inkster map poster turns this order into a crisp graphic. The strong horizontals and verticals give the composition a disciplined, architectural feel, while the occasional park, creek corridor or rail line adds relief. It is an honest portrait of a working suburb, and the grid reads especially well in the stricter styles.

Residential grid
Most of the city is a dense pattern of small, regular blocks, a layout that produces a clean, textile-like texture across the poster.
Green breaks
Parks, school grounds and river corridors interrupt the grid in places, adding open shapes that balance the regular street pattern.
