Iranduba lies on the south bank of the Rio Negro, directly across from Manaus, in the land between the Negro and the Solimões. On a map this location dominates: huge areas of water on two sides, and a narrow strip of land with forest, lakes and floodplains between them. The town itself is a small grid along the road, a modest shape compared with the rivers.
The Rio Negro Bridge, opened in 2011, crosses from Manaus to Iranduba and is one of the longest bridges in Brazil. Before it, the crossing was by ferry. On the poster the bridge is a thin straight line over dark water, connecting the city's dense grid to the rural roads on the other side.
An Iranduba map poster shows the meeting point of the Amazon's rivers and the edge of a large city. Nearby is the confluence known as the Meeting of the Waters, where the dark Negro and the sandy Solimões run side by side before merging. Ceramics workshops along the road are also well known locally.

Iranduba occupies land between the Negro and the Solimões. Lakes, channels and floodplains break up the land into irregular shapes around the roads.
The town grew along the main road from the bridge, with a small grid of streets around it. It is a compact shape set against wide water.
