Isiolo sits just north of the equator, on the edge of the dry country that stretches from the slopes of Mount Kenya toward the Ethiopian border. For generations it has been a meeting point between the highlands and the northern rangelands, and the town still reads that way on a map: a small grid of streets gathered where main roads arrive from several directions, then thinning quickly into open land.
The main highway north toward Marsabit and Moyale runs straight through, and it gives the town its spine. Around it, market lanes, residential plots and mosques fill a modest footprint, while seasonal watercourses cut shallow lines through the surrounding plain. Beyond the last buildings the drawing becomes sparse, which is exactly what makes the centre stand out so clearly in black and white.
Isiolo is often described as the gateway to northern Kenya, and it lies close to the Samburu, Buffalo Springs and Shaba reserves along the Ewaso Ng'iro river. An Isiolo map poster keeps that balance between a dense core and wide empty country, a quiet reminder of a place defined by the roads that lead out of it.
The road north to Marsabit passes through the heart of town, drawing a single strong line that organises the market streets and neighbourhoods on either side.
Shops, lanes and small plots cluster tightly around the commercial core, giving the map a dense knot of fine lines in contrast to the open land beyond.
Past the outskirts, the street pattern dissolves into scattered tracks and dry watercourses, leaving generous white space that frames the town like a margin on a page.

Ko e hā ʻa Isiolo
People who have travelled north from here, worked in the county or grew up among its markets tend to remember Isiolo as a crossing point. A print of its streets holds that memory without needing a photograph, only the pattern of the place itself.
You can set your own title and subtitle, add a date that matters, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand suits the dry country particularly well, while Noir makes the road network glow against a dark field.
