Jacutinga is a town in the south of Minas Gerais, close to the border with São Paulo state. It is known nationally for its knitwear industry, with many small factories and shops producing and selling knitted clothing, which draws buyers from across Brazil.
The landscape around the town is hilly, with coffee plantations and pastures on the surrounding slopes. On the map, the town centre forms a compact grid on the more level ground, while outer neighbourhoods climb the hillsides in irregular streets that follow the terrain.
A Jacutinga map poster captures this combination of order and topography. The central blocks are regular and tight, the edges loosen and curve, and roads leave town in several directions towards neighbouring municipalities in both states.
The historic centre is laid out in a tidy grid of short blocks around its main square, the most regular part of the map.
Beyond the centre, streets bend and step up the slopes, producing curving patterns that reflect the rolling terrain of southern Minas.
Jacutinga's knitwear trade is concentrated in and around the centre, and the commercial streets form the core from which the rest of the town radiates.
