Ko e mape
Jalpatagua lies in the department of Jutiapa in southeastern Guatemala, in the lowlands that lead towards the Salvadoran border. The main highway runs through the area, and the town grew up along it, so the map shows a core of streets closely tied to this route.
Around the centre, a modest grid of blocks gives way to scattered roads and tracks that lead into farmland and up into surrounding hills. Streams wind through the countryside, and the lines thin out quickly beyond the edge of town.
A Jalpatagua map poster brings out this simple structure: a highway, a small grid and a rural landscape of curves beyond it. It is a personal piece for families from Jutiapa, including the many who now live far from Guatemala.

A small, regular block pattern at the centre, typical of Guatemalan towns and clearly readable against the countryside.
Winding roads and tracks climbing into the surrounding hills and farmland, softening the edges of the design.
