Jobabo sits on the low, open plains of eastern Cuba, where the land is mostly given over to agriculture. The town is laid out as a modest grid of blocks, a common pattern in Cuban towns of its size. Main roads lead out across the countryside towards neighbouring municipalities.
The area has long been associated with sugar cane, and the settlement grew around that work and the rail lines that carried the harvest. Outside the town the map is largely empty, with a few roads, tracks and watercourses crossing the level ground.
A Jobabo map poster presents the town in its setting: a tight rectangle of streets surrounded by wide agricultural land. The design is spare and easy to read, which suits a place defined by its relationship with the countryside around it.
Regular blocks form the centre of Jobabo. The ordered layout stands out clearly against the open land that surrounds it on all sides.
Straight roads lead out of town across flat terrain. They connect Jobabo with the wider agricultural region of eastern Cuba.
Large empty areas around the town show the cane fields and pasture. The white space frames the street pattern strongly.
