Kasukabe sits on the low, level ground of eastern Saitama, where rivers once wandered freely across the Kanto Plain. From above, the city reads as a patchwork: dense blocks around the station, looser residential streets beyond, and the pale gaps of remaining farmland toward the edges. The Edo River marks the eastern boundary, while the Old Tone River and smaller channels draw long, curving lines through the middle.
The town grew as a post station on the Nikko Kaido, the Edo-period road north to Nikko, and the old route still shows as a steady line through the centre. Today the Tobu Skytree Line and Urban Park Line meet at Kasukabe Station, and the rail corridors divide the map into clear quarters. On a Kasukabe map poster these tracks and waterways become the structure that everything else hangs from.
Beneath the city's outskirts runs the Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel, a vast flood-control system built to protect this low basin. It leaves only modest traces on the surface, but it explains why water shapes so much of the plan. Kasukabe is also widely known as the hometown of the Crayon Shin-chan family, and for the centuries-old Ushijima wisteria.
The broad Edo River runs along the eastern side of Kasukabe, a wide band of water and floodplain that gives the map a firm, straight boundary with neighbouring Chiba.
Once a main channel of the Tone, this river now loops gently through the city, its curves standing out against the regular housing blocks and the straight lines of the railways.
Two Tobu lines cross at Kasukabe Station. The densest streets gather around this junction, then thin out into quieter residential grids and fields further from the centre.

Ko e hā ʻa Kasukabe
Some people grew up here, some commuted from here to Tokyo, and some know the town through its famous cartoon family. For all of them Kasukabe is a place of ordinary streets that carry personal weight. A map of its rivers and rail lines keeps that everyday geography on the wall, calm and legible.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be set to a home address, a family name or a meaningful date. Choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the $9 HD files or order a printed poster on matte paper, with an optional wooden frame.
