Kuala Kurau lies in the Kerian district of Perak, where the Kurau River meets the Strait of Malacca. The name means the mouth of the Kurau, and the map shows it directly: the river curls toward the coast, and the town's lanes cluster on its banks close to where it opens to the sea.
Fishing has long shaped the place. Houses and jetties extend toward the water along the riverbanks, and boats moor along the estuary. Inland, the landscape changes to the flat, irrigated rice fields of Kerian, one of Malaysia's traditional rice-growing areas, divided into long regular plots and channels.
A Kuala Kurau map poster captures that meeting of river, sea and paddy. The estuary gives the composition its main shape, the fishing town forms a small dense cluster, and the lines of the fields spread out behind it in a quiet grid.
The Kurau River widens as it reaches the sea, and its curve through the town forms the central, defining line of the map.
Houses and jetties crowd the riverbanks near the estuary, showing on the map as a fine, irregular edge between land and water.
Inland, long rectangular paddy plots and irrigation channels create a regular pattern that contrasts with the organic shape of the fishing town.
