Lafayette lies on flat, low ground, and its map is shaped by the Vermilion River. The river loops slowly through the southern and eastern parts of the city, its bends drawing a soft, irregular line through otherwise orderly neighbourhoods. Streets spread outward in grids that shift direction from one district to the next, following old property lines and roads that once led to nearby towns.
Interstate 10 crosses the north of the city and Interstate 49 runs north from it, while the Evangeline Thruway cuts through the middle. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette sits close to downtown, and Cypress Lake on the campus appears as a small patch of water among the buildings. Suburban developments with curving cul-de-sacs extend toward the south.
Lafayette is widely regarded as the centre of Acadiana, the Cajun and Creole heart of Louisiana, and it hosts Festival International de Louisiane each spring. A Lafayette map poster turns the city's plain layout and slow river into a clean composition that makes the most of the Vermilion's meanders.
The river curls through the city in lazy loops, the most organic line on the map and a clear contrast to the straight roads around it.
I-10 and I-49 meet on the north side, their wide interchanges and ramps forming bold shapes at the edge of the street grid.
The UL Lafayette campus sits near downtown, its blocks, paths and small Cypress Lake making a distinct pocket in the city's layout.

Ko e hā ʻa Lafayette
For anyone who studied at UL Lafayette, grew up in Acadiana or still thinks of it as home, this map is a quiet reminder of the place, its river and its streets. It works well as a gift for a graduation or a move away.
Personalise it with a title, a subtitle and a coordinates line, then choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand gives the river country a warm, soft tone.
