Lake Biel, known in German as the Bielersee and in French as the Lac de Bienne, stretches from northeast to southwest at the foot of the Jura in western Switzerland. It covers about 39 square kilometres. The northern shore is steep and planted with vineyards, while the southern side is flatter and more open, and the map shows this in how tightly or loosely the roads follow the water.
At the northeastern end lies Biel/Bienne, Switzerland's largest officially bilingual city and a long-standing centre of Swiss watchmaking. Since water levels were lowered in the nineteenth century, St. Peter's Island has been joined to the shore near Erlach by a narrow strip of land. Jean-Jacques Rousseau stayed on the island in 1765 and later described the weeks he spent there as among the happiest of his life.
A Lake Biel map poster shows the lake's long outline, with the dense streets of Biel at one tip and wine villages such as Twann and Ligerz strung along the north shore. Canals carrying the Aare enter from the south and leave near Nidau. On the flat southern shore their straight engineered lines stand out against the soft natural edge of the lake.

Between Biel and La Neuveville the road and railway squeeze along the steep north bank, passing through small villages built on the few flat terraces above the water.
The Hagneck canal enters from the south and the Nidau-Büren canal leaves near Biel. Both are engineered channels whose ruler-straight lines stand out against the natural shoreline.

It suits anyone who has lived in Biel, cycled around the lake or spent a summer day on the island, and the bilingual setting means the title works in German or French. Add a subtitle with a date, or edit the coordinates line to mark a particular village or jetty.
Blueprint brings out the engineered canals, while Paper and Sand give the vineyard shore a softer tone. Classic black & white and Noir are also available. The files come in six print sizes at 300 DPI, and printed copies ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
