Lashio is the main town of northern Shan State in Myanmar, set among rolling hills on the Shan plateau. Unlike towns on open plains, its streets curve and step around the terrain, so the map shows neighbourhoods separated by slopes and valleys rather than a single regular grid.
The town is known historically as the starting point of the Burma Road, the route built in the late 1930s to carry supplies across the mountains to Kunming in China. It is also the end of the railway line that climbs up from Mandalay, which made Lashio an important point of transfer between rail and road.
A Lashio map poster shows a town shaped by its ground: winding main roads, pockets of denser streets, and quieter hillside lanes at the edges. The result is an organic, uneven composition, a good fit for anyone who knows the place or has travelled the road north toward the border.
Main streets in Lashio follow the contours of the surrounding hills, drawing loose curves across the poster instead of straight lines and giving the map a relaxed rhythm.
The line from Mandalay ends in Lashio, and the railhead appears on the map as a short spur and yard on the edge of the town.
The road leading northeast toward the Chinese border follows the historic Burma Road corridor, extending the town's outline into the hills.

Lashio carries personal and historical weight for many people, whether through family, trade or the story of the Burma Road. A clean street map holds that connection quietly, without leaning on photographs.
