Two shores
The lagoon edge, broken by jetties and small inlets, and the straight Adriatic beach define the island on either side, a contrast that shapes the entire map.

The Lido is the thin strip of land that separates the lagoon of Venice from the open Adriatic. On a map it appears as a long sliver, lagoon on one side and sea on the other, with the historic city visible across the water. Streets cross it in short parallel lines between the two shores, and a continuous beach runs the length of the seaward side.
Unlike central Venice, the Lido has roads and cars, and its main avenue runs from the vaporetto landing at Santa Maria Elisabetta straight across to the sea. The island became a seaside resort in the late nineteenth century and is best known today as the home of the Venice Film Festival, held each year near the old grand hotels. Further along the island lies the small village of Malamocco.
A Lido map poster is one of the more unusual compositions in the collection: mostly water, with a narrow ribbon of streets through the middle. Framing it to include the lagoon and a glimpse of Venice makes the geography clear. Blueprint suits the maritime setting, and Noir turns sea and lagoon into deep dark fields around the island.
The lagoon edge, broken by jetties and small inlets, and the straight Adriatic beach define the island on either side, a contrast that shapes the entire map.
The island's main avenue runs from the lagoon landing directly across to the sea, a short, bold axis at the centre of the Lido's street pattern.
Toward the southern part of the island, the old village of Malamocco keeps a small, dense cluster of lanes and canals, a miniature echo of Venice itself.

The Lido holds memories of summer beaches, the festival at the turn of August and September, or long bike rides along the sea wall. A map of the island is a more considered keepsake of Venice than a postcard view, and its long shape suits a narrow wall.
Personalise the title, add a subtitle such as the year of a festival or a honeymoon, and pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 digital download includes six print sizes, and matte prints can be delivered with a wooden frame.
