Luján lies on the pampas west of Buenos Aires, on the banks of the river that shares its name. It is the country's main pilgrimage site. The neo-Gothic Basilica of Our Lady of Luján, with its two tall spires, stands over the central square, and every year large crowds walk here from the capital.
