Climbing road
The access road leaves the valley and switchbacks steadily up the mountainside to the resort. Its repeated turns are the most detailed element on the sheet and instantly familiar to cycling fans.

Luz Ardiden lies in the Hautes-Pyrénées above the town of Luz-Saint-Sauveur, in the valley that leads south toward Gavarnie. The resort itself is modest in size, with a base area, car parks and lifts spread across open, largely treeless slopes. What gives it a strong shape on a map is the road that reaches it, climbing out of the valley in a long series of tight bends.
That road is known well beyond skiing. It has been used several times as a summit finish in the Tour de France, and cyclists ride it in summer when the slopes turn to pasture. On a Luz Ardiden map poster the hairpins become the centrepiece, a folded line rising from the valley floor to the resort, surrounded by steep contour and little else.
Below, the valley holds the small town with its streets gathered around the river and the roads that branch toward other Pyrenean passes and resorts. The contrast between the compact settlement and the wide, empty upper slopes is what makes the map work. It is a portrait of a mountain as much as of a resort, drawn in spare black lines.
The access road leaves the valley and switchbacks steadily up the mountainside to the resort. Its repeated turns are the most detailed element on the sheet and instantly familiar to cycling fans.
Above the base area the terrain is broad and largely treeless. On the poster this becomes a calm field of contour lines broken only by thin lift lines.
Luz-Saint-Sauveur sits at the foot of the climb, a compact knot of streets beside the river. It anchors the lower part of the composition and gives scale to the mountain above.

This is a print for skiers who know the Pyrenees and for cyclists who have ridden or watched the climb. It captures a single ascent in one clear image, which makes it a natural companion to a bike, a race number or a photograph from the top.
Add the date of your ride or ski trip to the title, write your own subtitle and keep or change the coordinates line. Styles include Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Printed posters come on matte paper, with an optional wooden frame.
