MacPherson is a residential area in central-eastern Singapore, between Geylang, Paya Lebar and Potong Pasir. Its map is typical of the city: slab and point blocks of public housing arranged around courtyards and car parks, with a few older streets of low-rise shophouses and light industry woven in. Everything is tightly organised, and little space is left unused.
The area takes its name from MacPherson Road, named after Ronald MacPherson, a nineteenth-century colonial officer of the Straits Settlements. Today MacPherson MRT station is an interchange between the Circle Line and the Downtown Line. The street network draws toward it, with walkways and roads converging on the station area.
Main arterial roads frame the neighbourhood and form firm edges around its blocks. A MacPherson map poster captures a pattern that is very much Singapore's own: repeated housing blocks, small green pockets, and a road grid that ties a dense neighbourhood neatly into the rest of the island.
Public housing blocks stand in neat groups around courtyards and green spaces, giving the map the repeated, almost modular texture typical of Singapore estates.
MacPherson station links the Circle and Downtown lines. The roads and walkways around it gather into a small, clearly legible hub on the map.
Low-rise shophouses and small industrial buildings survive along some streets. Their tighter plots contrast with the larger footprints of the housing blocks.

In Singapore, the estate you grew up in is a big part of who you are, and MacPherson is no exception. A map of its blocks and streets is a personal reminder of home for residents, former residents and those who have moved overseas.
Title it with the estate name, a block number or a family name, and set a subtitle and coordinates. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the $9 HD files or order a framed print.
