Ko e mape
Maisí sits at the far eastern end of Cuba, where the island narrows to a blunt point and meets open water on three sides. From above, the land ends suddenly at the coast, with no long beaches or deep bays. Settlements are spread across the municipality rather than packed into one centre, so the map reads as scattered clusters joined by a few roads instead of a dense urban grid.
The land's most distinctive feature is its series of stepped marine terraces. These are old shorelines lifted out of the sea over long periods, and they rise inland in broad bands. On a map they appear as parallel contours that follow the coast, with roads sometimes running along one level before switching back up to the next. Past the cape lies the Windward Passage, the strait between Cuba and Hispaniola.
