Mānesar lies in Gurugram district, Haryana, south-west of Delhi along National Highway 48, the main road to Jaipur. On a map, it is split into two very different parts. There is the older village settlement with its irregular lanes, and there is the planned Industrial Model Township with its large, regular sectors and wide roads, laid out for factories and warehouses.
The industrial township has made Mānesar one of the major manufacturing centres of the National Capital Region. It is especially known for the automobile industry, including a large Maruti Suzuki plant. The town also hosts the training centre of India's National Security Guard.
