Marj Al Hamam lies on the southwestern edge of Greater Amman, in the hilly country that surrounds the Jordanian capital. From above, it looks very different from the dense older neighbourhoods downtown. Streets curve around the contours of the land, cul-de-sacs push into the slopes, and villas and apartment blocks sit spread across the hillsides.
The name translates roughly as the meadow of doves, and the area was once a rural village surrounded by farmland and olive trees. As Amman grew rapidly over recent decades, Marj Al Hamam became one of its expanding residential districts, reached by main roads leading toward the Airport Road corridor.
A Marj Al Hamam map poster shows the pattern of a place still between town and country. Built-up neighbourhoods fill the ridges and upper slopes, while wadis and open ground remain between them. The street network is loose and winding, and the unbuilt spaces make the drawing feel open, in contrast to the tight grid of central Amman.
Residential roads bend around the hillsides rather than running straight, producing looping shapes and short dead ends that are distinctive at poster scale.
Dry valleys cut between the built-up ridges and remain largely open, leaving calm unmarked areas that break the street pattern into clusters.
Main roads link the district with Amman and the Airport Road corridor, appearing as the straightest, most continuous lines crossing the map.

Marj Al Hamam is where many Amman families have built homes in recent years. A map of these slopes and streets makes a thoughtful housewarming gift or a keepsake for someone who has moved away from Jordan.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, adding a family name or the year you moved in. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, with Sand echoing the colours of the Jordanian hills.
